That Night Life
This is actually a post from last year that was never posted. Went with some people to Night Life at the California Academy of Sciences. Night life is on Thursdays for the 21+ year olds. They serve alcoholic beverages, have awesome music blasting in different areas of the Academy, serve food, so forth. The night I went was Christmas themed. You could make Christmas cards, antler crowns, eat tons of Ghiradelli chocolate...The main room had Geographer DJ-ing and "snow" where people were dancing. Roof top had reindeers that I sadly was unable to see. I liked the Rainforests of the World room. It was really humid in there with creatures and plants of the wilderness. The ceiling of the Rainforest kind of reminded me of the Hunger Game's arena in Catching Fire. The Planetarium was a cool dome shaped theatre where the entire huge ceiling was the screen and the seats were leaned back. Overall, it's a fun and educational place to be when you have time after clinic. __oli

Playground Love
These date back to the end of summer when Christina came back to do a quick study for her boards exam.It was good seeing her and doing too short of a catch up session. One of the days that we hung out, I wanted to find a slide. And so we did. We enjoyed the slides. Above photographed is the Seward Street Slides. I don't know why kids aren't afraid of it. Christina and I screamed, but then again, we were the only passengers that screamed. It was so fast! I fell on my butt so hard in front of the kids & it hurt so much. We got some boba drinks, potatoes, and guacamole. Yum. We ended with soaking in the view at Twin Peaks. It was so clear and beautiful. The pictures above may all seem the same, but I assure you that they're all at different angles and I'm not being repetitive. _oli

Friday Favorites
Joe's Jeans Rolled Vintage Jeans, Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, Gabriela Artigas Delicate Bracelet Cuff, Zara Combination Camisole Tank, Karen Walker Harvest Sungalsses, Christian Louboutin Flueve Pointed-Toe Slingback, Gorjana's Bleeker Oversized Clutch, & Fujifilm Instax Mini
Yay theses fun Friday Favorites where I get to compile all these non-affordable items together. I want to perfect that braid/bun do though. I have not bought jeans for the longest time, so I keep browsing for the next perfect pair. I had a tiny phase where I wanted sling backs. But I mos def still want the fuji camera!! Those seem so fun to go frolic about and snap snap some candids of people and the beautiful sf. I think I had this laid back beachy hair/karen walker sunglasses crave because I created this a week ago during exam week when we had the best sunny & warm weather! And of course that went away when we finished midterm week. I have so many pictures and posts to post for you guys--especially how to study for boards (or at least how I did).
Btw out of curiosity, to pre-dental students, what type of program/aid would you want or receive benefit from a dental school. I know a lot of schools including UCSF have a day to play in their simulation lab, mentor/mentee programs, tours, etc. Is there anything else that you guys would want or need? Email me! _oli
Love this song-listen to it! Thanks Ben for the song.

Haven't done these in so long. I was originally just looking up camera related accessories and ended up looking at clothes...
1. Daniel Wellington Classic St. Andrews Lady Watch
My sister showed me this watch and I love it. Let's hope it's some random hint from her as my future birthday present months away. (I think I've already shown this watch on a previous Fri Faves)
2. Uniqlo Blue/Green Flannel Shirts
I love certain plaid flannel shirts depending on the material. It reminds me of the warmth (or pajamas) of the holiday season.
3. Penfield Outback Vest
I am in need of a vest!
4. David Yurman Moonlight Ice Bracelet
My cousin, Kelly, has a bracelet I really like and this reminds me of it--or maybe it is this. It looks really elegant on her.
5. J Brand Skinny Tulum Jeans
I have a thing for wasting my time searching & googly eyeing for jeans I usually don't end up buying.
6. Olympus PEN E-PL2 (with this awesome leather camera case!)
I want to play with this!
7. Marc by Marc Jacobs Werdie Snake Effect Camera Bag
I've been playing with my dad's DSLR as of late, therefore, lugging the heavy thang around. I love the color of this red camera bag. It would be nice to have a bag to safely put the camera away where it looks like a purse rather than an obvious bulky & bland camera bag.
8. Roberu Camera Strap
Adds some spice to an all black camera.
Okay going to pack now! Road trip (not really) with Jenniepoo back up to SF in a few hours. I'm so sad my days at home are over.

1. Banana Republic Martin Fit Trouser 2. Banana Republic Blazer 3. Acne Canada Fringed Wool Scarf 4. Marni Leather Tote 5. Tory Burch Darlene Ballet Flats 6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Watch 6. Tiffany & Co. Mesh Ring 7. Obey Draft Mittens
Interviews are coming up and I thought I would use one of the random "outfits" post dedicated to it. Above is an idea of what I wore, of course not what I had (I wish!). I did get my suit from Banana Republic the Martin Fit. I had some coupons though (I don't remember how I got them, maybe from Tina- thanks Tina!). Here's a link to the suit collection. Right now there's a 30% off discount with free shipping over $50. I got a ruffled front blouse from there as well. Check out the sales section, they have some good deals sometimes. If possible, get a belt to complete the look. I liked the dark gray and light gray color because it stands out among everyone else wearing black. But I got black in the end because it was more flattering for me. I got pants rather than a skirt because I didn't want to deal with panty hose (and bare legs in cold east coast weather). If you get a skirt, remember it should be knee length. Do not wear the skirt too long where it's suffocating your look and not too short where it rides up inappropriately when you sit down. At one of my interviews we got to do a simulation lab practice drilling on a mannequin's teeth so I don't think people in tight/short skirts were completely comfortable. Anyway, my shoes were patent and pointed toes similar to the above. Pointed toes look sharper to me. I suggest no to wearing open toes or stilettos. It's not a fashion show. During each interview you will be given a tour by a student of the campus possibly in the snowy outdoors or up and down flights of stairs, so you want to be comfortable and balanced. I had a bag similar to the one above where it was simple. I put my resume, notepad, and a copy of my application for that respective school. I did not really need the bag, I just liked carrying food and water bottle in it. Places that were cold I did wear a scarf (but wrapped around more neatly than shown above). Mine was a somewhat gray/blue color--so it matched with the suit and still looked professional. The only jewelry I had were minimal: a watch and a silver ring both similar to above. I suggest little to no perfume and simple make up. I painted my nails in OPI's Samoan Sand. Oh, and I also had green mittens just because I couldn't stand the cold during the outdoor tours hehe.
But really, a snazzy suit should not really matter. First impressions do matter though, so look professional, clean, happy, and confident! My good friend wore black skinny jeans to interviews & she is now my awesome classmate! Please say no to cleavage and raccoon eye make up! :)
++remember here's the link on SDN pertaining to interview feedbacks and questions you can practice with a friend: dental interview. For non-dental, SDN also has interviews for med/podiatry/pharm/vet/optom/psych. GOOD LUCK.

So, I'm staying at my sister's apartment for the week. And these are the few things that caught my eyes--they're so cute! The first is an afro ken cell phone key chain hanging on the kitchen cabinet knob. My sister and I both got matching afro ken key chain years ago. The next is a cow decor she got from her friend who went to Costa Rica... or mistakenly took the exact same gift that I got from a friend who went to Mexico. Next up, she got these on her Viet Nam trip a few weeks before mine. They're elephants with candles inside. Next is a loofah like bath panda! It might be a better shower head decor than a loofah. And lastly, is her shu uemura oil facial cleanser. My face has felt pretty gross during Viet Nam and especially during the plane ride, and after using this, my face felt really fresh and soft. Okay, laters, I have to go do push ups with my sister. whee...
My VN pictures from Day 2 will be coming soon! Happy Friday!
Best,
Oli

I finally finished up D1 year! I'm not sure if it felt really rewarding or not because as the finals (exam) week progressed, we studied less and less. Everyone (or at least me and the people I studied with) just seemed so much more carefree and mellow. Well with that attitude, I hope we all do well and pass! Anyway, I'll reflect on my first year another time. I wanted to upload a few pictures I took with some classmates when we all went to Fireside bar on 7th and Irving. But it took too long to organize my pictures and now I just want to read (thanks JenP for the reads...winkers) or sleep.
So I decided to look up some Viet Nam pictures on Pinterest. I'm heading out to Viet Nam with a classmate. We're going with the Project Viet Nam Organization--this trip is not affiliated with UCSF. We'll be going for 2 weeks and vacationing for a week. I cannot wait to see how Viet Nam is like, eat the delicious fruits **mangosteen mangosteen** and food, and experience running through the traffic streets. I hope I'll be able to capture amazing images of the entire experience and give it justice despite my lack of photo skills. I cannot wait to volunteer with the organization!! I hope I will learn a lot and be able to help out as much as I am capable of. I will be giving a presentation on tapeworm... haha yayy. Hopefully I will be able to give an up to date of the entire trip for everyone. I know I made a day by day blog for my trip to Cambridge a few years ago and it failed half way through... now I'm missing the pistachio ice cream we would get on the streets after classes in Cambridge!!
