The much over due overview of classes I am taking this quarter. Second year has been, by far, much better than D1. It's less book work (BMS) and more emphasis on hand skills and clinical skills. Here are the classes: BMS 126 organ systems and human athophysiology; Dent Sci 126A fundamentals of risk assessment, therapy, and prevention; Dent Sci 127 oro-facial pain: foundations for diagnosis and treatment; Interdept 182 dental implantology; PRDS 126 removable partial dentures & advanced restorative techniques; and PCC 129 comprehensive care clinic. We're still honing our skills in crown and bridge, but learning different style of preps for different types of crown. Last quarter we learned preps for gold whereas this quarter thus far, we're learning for porcelain bonded metal crowns. For operative this time around, we're working on more natural teeth. We're also going to start working with CAD/CAM programs, which is a machine that mills out a crown--so cool! We also have a denture class. So far, drawing the designs are fun, but I don't know anymore than that. For PCC we're doing screenings/applying varnish/educating oral health hygiene at schools, learning about perio, working on patient skills, and applying anesthesia (on each other!:[). For BMS we're learning the pathology and physiology of GI tract/ endocrinology/ something else... I signed up for an implant class which is the interdept 182. Thazzzz alll!!
