Oli's Friday Favorites

[Images & template provided by Polyvore]

Haven't done these in so long. I was originally just looking up camera related accessories and ended up looking at clothes...

1. Daniel Wellington Classic St. Andrews Lady Watch
My sister showed me this watch and I love it. Let's hope it's some random hint from her as my future birthday present months away. (I think I've already shown this watch on a previous Fri Faves)

2. Uniqlo Blue/Green Flannel Shirts
I love certain plaid flannel shirts depending on the material. It reminds me of the warmth (or pajamas) of the holiday season.

3. Penfield Outback Vest
I am in need of a vest!

4. David Yurman Moonlight Ice Bracelet
My cousin, Kelly, has a bracelet I really like and this reminds me of it--or maybe it is this. It looks really elegant on her.

5. J Brand Skinny Tulum Jeans
I have a thing for wasting my time searching & googly eyeing for jeans I usually don't end up buying.

6. Olympus PEN E-PL2 (with this awesome leather camera case!)
I want to play with this!

7. Marc by Marc Jacobs Werdie Snake Effect Camera Bag
I've been playing with my dad's DSLR as of late, therefore, lugging the heavy thang around. I love the color of this red camera bag. It would be nice to have a bag to safely put the camera away where it looks like a purse rather than an obvious bulky & bland camera bag.

8. Roberu Camera Strap
Adds some spice to an all black camera.

Okay going to pack now! Road trip (not really) with Jenniepoo back up to SF in a few hours. I'm so sad my days at home are over.

Oli's Friday Favorites

[Images assembled on & provided by Polyvore]
1. Banana Republic Martin Fit Trouser 2. Banana Republic Blazer 3. Acne Canada Fringed Wool Scarf 4. Marni Leather Tote 5. Tory Burch Darlene Ballet Flats 6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Watch 6. Tiffany & Co. Mesh Ring 7. Obey Draft Mittens

Interviews are coming up and I thought I would use one of the random "outfits" post dedicated to it. Above is an idea of what I wore, of course not what I had (I wish!). I did get my suit from Banana Republic the Martin Fit. I had some coupons though (I don't remember how I got them, maybe from Tina- thanks Tina!). Here's a link to the suit collection. Right now there's a 30% off discount with free shipping over $50. I got a ruffled front blouse from there as well. Check out the sales section, they have some good deals sometimes. If possible, get a belt to complete the look. I liked the dark gray and light gray color because it stands out among everyone else wearing black. But I got black in the end because it was more flattering for me. I got pants rather than a skirt because I didn't want to deal with panty hose (and bare legs in cold east coast weather). If you get a skirt, remember it should be knee length. Do not wear the skirt too long where it's suffocating your look and not too short where it rides up inappropriately when you sit down. At one of my interviews we got to do a simulation lab practice drilling on a mannequin's teeth so I don't think people in tight/short skirts were completely comfortable. Anyway, my shoes were patent and pointed toes similar to the above. Pointed toes look sharper to me. I suggest no to wearing open toes or stilettos. It's not a fashion show. During each interview you will be given a tour by a student of the campus possibly in the snowy outdoors or up and down flights of stairs, so you want to be comfortable and balanced. I had a bag similar to the one above where it was simple. I put my resume, notepad, and a copy of my application for that respective school. I did not really need the bag, I just liked carrying food and water bottle in it. Places that were cold I did wear a scarf (but wrapped around more neatly than shown above). Mine was a somewhat gray/blue color--so it matched with the suit and still looked professional. The only jewelry I had were minimal: a watch and a silver ring both similar to above. I suggest little to no perfume and simple make up. I painted my nails in OPI's Samoan Sand. Oh, and I also had green mittens just because I couldn't stand the cold during the outdoor tours hehe.

But really, a snazzy suit should not really matter. First impressions do matter though, so look professional, clean, happy, and confident! My good friend wore black skinny jeans to interviews & she is now my awesome classmate! Please say no to cleavage and raccoon eye make up! :)

++remember here's the link on SDN pertaining to interview feedbacks and questions you can practice with a friend: dental interview. For non-dental, SDN also has interviews for med/podiatry/pharm/vet/optom/psych. GOOD LUCK.

Friday Favorites

1. Emporio Armani Chronograph Leather Watch 2. Rick Owens Lilies Draped Stretched Jersey Maxi Skirt 3. H&M Sweater 4. Tretorn Canvas T56 Sneakers 5. Sambag Sambag Peach Sunnies

I haven't done an outfits post for awhile (I don't own these fabulous items). I like the color and the slit of the skirt. To tone it down I added in comfortable sneakers and a warm sweater. And my obsession for the perfect chronograph watch has yet to cease. I don't know if a leather or metal watch would be the classic way to go. Tonight, I am going to help out with the Give Kids a Smile organization. We're preparing decorations and packages for tomorrow's screening.

Ciao,
O

I started watching Dollhouse--I like it! This is the theme song, nothing too special though.

Oli's Friday Favorites

I was playing around on Polyvore and the templates they had. The top is J.Crew's chambray, leggings, Talula Kent orange blazer, chloe ballet flats, wide Vermeil Cuff, Tiffany's black bean necklace (!!), purple proenza schouler clutch, deborah lippman nail polish (the color "fashion" is an elegant mocha nude lacquer), and boi-ing concealer (I have this one and it works pretty darn well!). I would go downtown with this outfit for a night out--the flats are so cool!

1. Winter Faux Fur Vest by Quicksilver 2. MARC by Marc Jacobs Messenger Bag 3. Adriano Goldshmied Stilt Coated Black Cigarette Jeans 4. The Work Wear Boots by Madewell 5. Stella McCartney Silk Chiffon Blouse 6. Yves Saint Laurent Arty Ring
[Images provided by Polyvore]

Apologies for our lack of posts other than the "Friday Favorites" post. We have both been crammed with a lot of exams. I've had 5 exams in the past two weeks with assignments and quizzes in between. I have another heavy exam come Monday. Eeks! This is what I do all day erryday: eat, study, and fall asleep accidentally. Yesterday I took a lovely relaxing break though! I went downtown with Alexa and Menlo to watch Puss in Boots... IN 3-D!!! We wanted to just do something simple that we haven't been able to do in so long, which was enjoy the movie theatre! Besides academia, our dental classes are getting more hands on in the sim clinic. We're drilling (which is sooo fun, hopefully I'm doing it correctly...haha jk! Of course I am....), removing decay, putting on rubber dams & clamps, putting on sealants, liners, composites, and other materials. Pretty fun! You have to work pretty fast and efficiently. You also have to be precise, gentle, attentive, and all the good stuff. We're also doing waxing since the beginning of time--although I have not progressed anywhere. I'm going to start bringing my ipod and my beloved headphones that cancels out the world's existence around me--it helps put me in the zone in sim lab. Sim lab assignments feel like we're in art class sometimes! Love it!

Anyway, aboot this outfit! Doesn't it look so chic, comfortable, and warm? I'm not sure if the chiffon top would match well in terms of texture and proportion with the faux fur vest. But I would totally wear this outfit. I love chiffon tops (though I don't have many or any at all that I can recall right now). Skinny black jeans and leggings are always so warm and clean looking to me. I love the grungy boots with the messenger bag, it balances out how girly and fancy the faux fur vest can become. The shoes and bag are actually practical too when you're on the go.

Anyway, enough procrastination. Time to write a Letter of Intent and study for my exam!!

Have a great three day weekend!! Good luck to those still interviewing or waiting to hear from a school :) And Ava, if you're reading this, I hope you buckle down and study your DATs!
- Oli

I listen to the weirdest music while I study lately. Christmas music, Adele, insanely sad Korean music, and Britney Spears.

Oli's Friday Favorites

1. Helmut Lang Cropped Shaggy Pullover 2. Supra Skytop Shoes 3. J.Crew Cashmere Scarf 4. Haute Hippie Bandage stretch mini 5. Blu Bijoux Light Green Beaded Convertible Bracelet

The scarves at J.Crew are so awesome!! But so is everything else. I like having proportions of loose tops and slimmer bottoms. And the sneakers keeps the outfit grungy. Green is my favorite color, thus the choice of the color scheme. The weather just got cold in SF! The past week was perfect and beautiful!! So today I just finished my other Histology + Pathology exam. Buhhh! It was crazy! Just kidding, not too bad, but each histology slide was questionable for me. :) I hope I pass...

Tonight I will be doing an event for a fraternity that I am joining: Delta Sigma Delta. This Saturday I'm going to   visit my relatives and my cousin's new born baby, Ethan! I'm excited to meet that lil gangster. And Sunday I'm going to volunteer for the Children's Health Hut Organization. I went last week to volunteer in China Twon where we screen kids, teach oral hygiene--kids are so cute!!! Anyway, I have to go, I have clinic now!

I got some gifts this week that I'm going to show you later (dental related...)!!

Oli's Friday Favorites

1. Red Leather Clutch 2. Top Shop Tall Draped Blouse 3. Uniform Wares Brass Tan Watch 4. J.Crew Toothpick Cord 5. Tory Burch Reva in Taupe

Isn't everything so nice! I love the J.Crew toothpick cords with the zipper detailing on the side (favorite part about it!). I love the draped top, it looks so simple and comfortable. I like the color of the red clutch. And I love the watch--doesn't it looks so sleek? Tuition was due yesterday--a chunk of our life/parental's money went out of all our bank accounts--leaving my friends and I hopelessly looking at clothes online to satisfy our cravings and temptations. Anyway I've been looking at clothes, but I have to go back to studying (I have a radiology quiz tomorrow. I hope it's insanely easy...). I'll try to post up my posts on orientation week, first day of school, and white coat ceremony as soon as I can.

Have a great weekend,
Oli

Soundcloud does not have this song, so here is a good song you should check out via YouTube (I heard it on Pretty Little Liars, the scene where Ezra Fitz is taking one last look at his classroom!):

9/16/11

Oli's Friday Favorites

L to R: Acne Rita Shearling Aviator Jacket, Michael Kors Black on Black Stainless steel, Hudson skinny jeans, Olive Body Butter by the Body Shop, & Peter Thomas Roth Mineral SPF.

I haven't looked at my pictures yet, so I'll do the usual lazy quick outfit post. Again, I don't own these items I post up. I do own the Olive Body Butter though! It smells so good! These are the things I'd want though if  the monies were flying into my window! A leather jacket to block me from the wind, skinny jeans to insulate my legs, body butter because my skin has been dry lately, and a watch (because I feel naked if I forget to wear one).

It is the end of orientation week and I feel exhausted!! The orientation is ongoing to next Wednesday/Thursday. It's actually called "Introduction to Dentistry" because it's surrious business guys. Legit lectures already happening, hundred pages behind before first lecture even started, research group project presentation due next Tuesday....My classmates are pretty awesome, social, and so outdoorsy--makes me feel like a blob just watching Pretty Little Liars instead of working out. I'll post more pictures later & my new note taking style. Christina's iPad notetaking is awesome!!

Best wishes & thank you for reading,
olimoli

introduced to this song by Chris Kim--thanks!

1. Splendid Cotton Jersey T-shirt 2. Metallic Rafia Fringe Skirt 3. Celine 1970s Beige & Tortoiseshell Sunglasses 4. Celine Medium Flap Bag 5. Sam Edelman Crystal Toe Cap Ballerina

This outfit seems all over the place. I was trying to match anything with the Splendid tee & Sam Edelman flats. I've tried on the Sam Edelman ballerina flats and they are extremely comfortable. It has good cushions! I like basic tees with everything now. It's most comfortable and clean looking. The clutch gives the outfit a pop of color, not that it really needs it with the crystal cap toe and loud skirt.

It's almost the end of July! Summer is going by too fast!! I watched Horrible Bosses this past Monday. It was hilarious!! I also got my avocado egg roll fix before the movie...yumm! I tried iced white peach oolong tea at Tea Station and it was delicious! Another flavor added to my list of obsessed favorite teas!

My friend Chris has left to China :( How fun for him! Have a safe and incredibly fun and yummy trip!! Bring me back pens! My home girl, Jennie, went back to school--good luck w/ 2nd year!! Everyone's leaving! Hopefully I get to see Christina mid August! And congratulations to the ever so successful Tina for doing very well on the GREs! Congrats to my sister for completing part one of part II boards (you are quite the best role model I could ever ask for!)!!

Lots of love,
Oli

Love this song, thanks Ben!

1. Smashbox "Sheer Focus" Tinted Moisturizer Luminous 2. Sacra Blouse 3. Seafolly Eva Plisse Moulded Triangle Top & Seafolly Cinder Harlow Hipster Pant 4. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle 5. Prada Black Suede Platform Sandal

Lovely.
Thanks, Tina, for letting me borrow your Smashbox for Vegas :)
Now, if only I could have the remaining 4 items--as if I had the monies flying errywhere.

All the best,
Oli

++ I heard this song for the first time (teehee) at a really dope shop in Santa Monica, Brandy Melville (thanks Tina for the suggestion, though I didn't buy anything--it had almost everything I wanted!!). The song sounded better for some reason at the shop. I'm not sure if it was a remix or because it was played loudly with good bass/stereo system.

1. Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Natural Sunscreen SPF 30 2. Tara Matthews Embellished Bandeau Top & H&M bikini bottoms 3. Ray Ban Wafer 4. NARS Illuminator Orgasm 5. DV by Dolce Vita Marci

Well, July has come oh so fast! I might be going to Vegas, so I've been thinking about all the nice pools there.
That bandeau top is quite lavish and nice, possibly too heavy for a top! Wayfer makes you look cool and oh so fresh. Can't forget non-sticky sunblock for protection and lovely illuminator to make one glow. And again, my love for nude colored sandals.  The sunny summer days have finally arrived! Woo hoo!! Have a good weekend & 4th of July.

Cheerios,
Oli

Oli's Friday Favorites

1. Sigerson Morrison Metallic Ostrich Flat 2. A.L.C. Snakeskin-Trimmed Leather Shorts 3. Chloe Drape-Front Silk-Charmeuse Blouse 4.  Michael Kors Gold-Plated Wrap Crhonograph Watch 5. Anita Ko Infinity 18-Karat Rose Gold Diamond Ring

I like to alternate off each Fridays between pictures I take and "outfits" I assemble together from net-a-porter.  It gives me time to compile (& sort of play with) pictures and also a quick way to get up a post. It's a bit depressing to spend time looking at clothes I know I won't be having anytime soon, or ever. I love the colors of this outfit. The orange is amazingg! I love silk/chiffon type tops. And I love chronograph watches. I want to get a chronograph watch, leather or metal band. Looks so spiffy.

Happy Friday & HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (weekend)!
Make your Papi some great & hearty meal!

All the best,
Olivia

& here's a song my friend, Ben, gave me (I LOVE Adam Levine's part:)

Oli's Friday Favorites

Hello, June! You've come too quickly.

1. Tibi Silk Crepe de Chine Top
If I were tanner, it would look good hanging on my shoulders casually.
Yellow gives off such a warm & friendly vibe.

2. 7 for All Mankind Roxanne Clean White Skinny Jeans
White skinnies look refreshing, light, and clean during these chilly yet sunny days.

3. Cartier Bangles
Quality gold jewelries always makes a casual outfit look more summery and chic to me.

4. Gigi Rose Gold Sandals
I love nude/tan colored clothing and shoes.

5. Fuji Intax Mini 7S Instant Camera
Polaroids? Love. I love the results too, it's a bit of a hazy white effect.

6. Korres Lip Butter
I have this in pomegranate, gifted from my lovely JenP.
It's addicting to apply this butter onto my lips non-stop.
I don't think it's really effective when your lips are cracked.
So I use when my lips are smooth, just to give some color to my lips.

xxx,
oli

Oli's Friday Favorites

1. Kain Modal and Silk-Blend T-Shirt
Its softness & basic impression leaves me feeling comfortable & clean.

2. Tibi Pleated Silk Crepe de Chine Maxi Skirt in Canary Yellow
The color is just beautiful! It will give the pop of color needed for summer!

3. Oliver Peoples Racy Round-Frame Metal Sunglasses
Brown/gold sunglasses leaves off the impression of a more relaxed feeling.

4. Lanvin Metal-Cuffed Leather Sandals
I love the nude color strappings!! It's always much more subtle and elegant--though the gold cuff may scream for attention. I wonder if the metal cuff will get really hot during the summer?

5. Clube Bossa One-Shoulder Bikini
A white bikini may help give me the illusion of being tanner than the pale skin I have.
I love how soft it wraps to one side around the hips & the chest.

This outfit would be nice for a cool & sunny day!
(& if you're wondering if I own these outfits, no no! I've got a great dental school debt to look forward to!)

Oli's Friday Favorites

1. Alexander McQueen Skull-Print Silk-Chiffon Scarf
I like how airy it seems & its colors. The skull makes the feminine scarf a bit edgier

2. Citizens of Humanity Thompson Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans
This casual pair of jeans would go well with sneakers and a loose top!

3. Marc by Marc Jacobs Natasha Leather Cross-Body Bag in Sage
Yeah the entire outfit's color doesn't seem to match. But I love them cross-body bags.
Your hands will always be free when you're on the run.

4. Lanvin Metallic-Gold Cracked-Leather Sneakers
Sneakers are comfy and these gold ones make it a bit more dressed up.
Good to run around too!

5. T by Alexander Wang Classic Racer-Back Jersey Tank
Loose tops are always so comfy & work well with skinny jeans.

I could run around the city and do work in this outfit! A bag to carry all my gizmos and gadgets and fly sneakers so I can run and hop on the buses on time!

Oli's Friday Favorites

If I had the money, then I'd love to be clothed by this:
1. Lanvin patent-leather ballerina flats in taupe
Nude flats always look so elegant and clean to me!

2. Ray-Ban classic aviator metal sunglasses
Aviator sunglasses always look a little edgy to me.
When I see people wear brown or light colored aviator sunglasses, it just seems very cooling to me.

3. Proenza-Schouler PS1 medium leather satchel in coral
I love love love the color.
I love messenger bags, it's easy to carry & run around with a load of unnecessary things.

4. Theyskens' Theory posy mid-rise straight leg white jeans
I have a thing for clean white skinny jeans.

5. Theyskens' Theory coca cropped cotton tank
It just looks so comfy to wear with skinny jeans!
